Corridor Constraints
The study team is considering constraints that influence how the corridor can be planned and improved. These constraints include:
Environmental Considerations
Existing and Planned Land Uses
Presence of Protected Species
Each constraint plays a role in shaping feasible solutions. By identifying and understanding these elements early in the process, the study can develop and evaluate potential alternatives that are both practical and sensitive to the surrounding context.
Land Use Designations
Designated Wilderness and Conservation Areas
Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Areas of Critical Environmental Concern
Boulder City Conservation Easement
BLM Land Ownership
Designated Good Tortoise Habitat
Protected Species
Protected species are plants and animals that receive legal protection under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) due to their risk of extinction. Species are classified as either “endangered,” meaning they are in immediate danger of extinction, or “threatened,” meaning they are likely to become endangered in the foreseeable future. The following listed species have been identified within the project area and will be considered as part of the study to ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations and to support their protection.
Monarch Butterfly
(Federally Threatened or Endangered Species - Proposed)
Western Burrowing Owl
(Migratory Birds)
Gila Monster
(State-Protected or Sensitive Species)
Mojave Desert Tortoise
(Federally Threatened or Endangered Species)
Peregrine Falcon
(Migratory Birds)
Pale Kangaroo Mouse
(State-Protected or Sensitive Species)
